Client Overview
Genesis Attachments is a leading manufacturer of high-performance shears, grapples, and concrete processors for the demolition and scrap industries. Their website serves as a key marketing and support tool for contractors, dealers, and sales reps—providing product information, downloadable manuals, and tools to locate local dealers and reps.
The Challenge
Genesis was running a Drupal 7 website that had served them well for years, but with Drupal 7’s end-of-life approaching, it was time for a technology upgrade. While the site remained functional, the design was beginning to show its age—especially on mobile—and the editorial experience was limited and difficult to manage. Genesis needed a new Drupal 10 site that preserved what was working but brought the platform up to modern standards for design, maintainability, and usability.
The Solution
We rebuilt the Genesis website on Drupal 10, carrying over the strengths of the previous site while significantly improving design polish, mobile responsiveness, and the content editing experience.
Editorial Experience with Mercury Editor
Genesis editors now use the Mercury Editor, a drag-and-drop page building system built on Drupal’s Paragraphs module. We broke down the site’s design into reusable components that can be mixed and matched across any page—giving editors full control over layout and content without needing to rely on predefined templates or developer assistance.
Improved Document Search
Genesis maintains a large collection of PDF-based product manuals, specification sheets, and maintenance guides. We implemented a powerful site search using Search API and Search API Attachments, enabling users to search within PDFs—a critical feature for their audience.
Custom Specification Conversion Tool
The original Drupal 7 site included a custom module for allowing customers to choose to display product specifications in either imperial and metric units. We completely rebuilt this functionality for Drupal 10 to preserve this key feature and improve its maintainability.
