A product-centric Drupal website with a custom quote request workflow

Client Overview

Genesee Polymers Corporation (GPC) is a Michigan-based manufacturer of high-performance silicone chemicals used in a variety of industrial and commercial applications. With a broad product catalog and highly technical customer base, GPC needed a modern platform to manage product information, streamline internal processes, and make it easier for customers to find and request the materials they need.

The Challenge

GPC’s previous website was built as a series of static HTML pages, with no backend or dynamic functionality. Updating product data or datasheets was tedious and error-prone, and there was no simple way for customers to search for products or request quotes.

GPC needed a new website that was easier to manage, more professional in appearance, and capable of delivering a better experience for both its customers and internal team.

The Solution

For GPC, we built a modern, content-driven site using Drupal Commerce—not for direct sales, but to power a custom “Request a Quote” workflow. The site includes a dynamic product catalog, advanced search tools, and administrative tools to manage a large volume of technical data.

Key Features

Quote Request System Using Drupal Commerce: Customers can browse products, select from available product sizes, and add them to a cart. Instead of completing a purchase, customers submit a quote request at checkout. Staff receive a detailed notification and use this to generate manual quotes offline.
Advanced Product Search: Using Search API with faceted filtering, users can search and refine products by key scientific attributes like pH, molecular weight, and viscosity—enabling discovery based on application needs.
Custom Product Import Tools: GPC staff can upload product specifications via CSV and bulk-upload Safety and Technical Data Sheets (SDS/TDS) via ZIP files. These tools are integrated directly into the admin UI, so non-technical staff can manage updates easily.
Product Detail Pages with Chemical Properties: Each product page displays structured data, including chemical structure images and detailed specifications for technical buyers.
